BASIC LAP REFRESHER COURSE AND ZERO MIS USE

Session Objectives:
To revisit safety and quality assurance in basic laparoscopy practices intended for all General Surgery practitioners who are currently recognized as Fellows of PALES.
Provide insights regarding provision of safe laparoscopic surgery. Keeping track of ways to improve safety in MIS procedures, thereby preventing possible complications.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the rationale for PALES recertification and its positive effects in achieving safe and high quality minimally invasive surgeries.
2. Realize ways in improving Critical View of Safety and understand its significance in preventing BDI.
3. Highlights the important key points in achieving safe laparoscopic surgery.
4. Be able to implement the standard steps or techniques in the optimal practice of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
5. Discuss strategies when dealing with difficult gallbladder surgeries specifically intended to prevent BDI.
6. To expound understanding the consequences of BDI especially, its impact on a patient's quality of life.
7. Learn the criteria and requirements of a certified PALES fellow and how to proceed with online certification
